Inauguration of the Emile HUGOT laboratory

The Sugar Processing Department’s new research laboratory was inaugurated on Thursday 4 October 2007 by the Secretary of State for Overseas Territories, Mr Christian ESTROSI. The laboratory was named after Émile Hugot, a key figure in the Reunion Island sugar industry who also earned an international reputation in the world of sugar.

The foundation stone for the new laboratory was laid on 15 February 2007 by Mr Nicolas SARKOZY.

Following a speech by the Chairman of CERF, Mr Jean François MOSER, the Minister’s speech focused on development and research in partnership with competitive clusters, which he was responsible for setting up under the previous government.
